About the Aled Mission Area

The Aled Mission Area is a group of churches working together that are bound together to serve through a shared approach to ministry, outreach and in maintaining our Church buildings and worshiping communities. The mission area is geographically large and runs along the coast from Pensarn, Abergele to Rhos-on-Sea, and south into the country to Llansannan and Llangernyw. It includes 17 churches, some modern others ancient and is part of the Diocese of St Asaph in the Church in Wales . Our aim is to proclain through word , sacrament and our actions , the Gospel of Christ in our part of North Wales

About the Aled Mission Area

Mission Areas and the Way Ahead

Mission Areas have been created throughout the Church in Wales. They have been set up to replace the old “parish” system to allow for collaborative sharing of resources between church and therefore better serve God’s purpose.

“Mission Areas are designed to energise all who worship with us to take an active part both with the teaching of our saviour Jesus Christ , but also in how we grow in discipleship and work collaboratively to use the different gifts that we have all been given to bring all whom we encounter closer to our God

These changes were made after the Harries Report on the Church in Wales in 2012

It is now 100 years since the Church In Wales became into existence. Whilst we became disestablished from the Church of England we remain within the Anglican communion. We are the distinctive Welsh arm of Anglicism, proclaiming from our Celtic roots, the depth of our commitment to reach everyone in our communities.

Our aim is to serve everyone within our geographic area , whatever their situation in life. We are here to support people through worship and prayer in times of sorrow as well at times of great joy. We aim to walk with Christ in his mission in this world.

How does it work?

Each church is represented at the Mission Area Conference, which is the MA’s principal governing body, and holds the legal responsibility for all activities within the MA.
There is also an MA Executive, essentially a ‘steering group’, made up of the MA Leader, two Wardens, a Lay Chair, the MA treasurer, and a small number of others from the Conference, both clergy and lay.

The Conference meets at least four times as year to agree how we should deliver our ministry and outreach to all whom we serve.

There are also committees, made up of conference members and others who report to the Executive and the Conference, and deal with specific work in the Mission Area. These are: Buildings, Finance, Shared Ministry Team, Schools, and Vision.

Buildings Committee

The Buildings Committee is made up of reps from each church, and looks after all the buildings in our MA. It keeps track of the condition of each building and its property, and considers the best way to make sure we are properly equipped for the task ahead.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is made up of the treasurers of each church, under the leadership of the MA Treasurer, looking after the finances of the whole Mission Area, to improve co-operation and support new work. Legacies that have been made to a church will remain there, as will current reserves or parish share debts, until or unless a decision is made to share these, in support of one another and our shared mission.

Shared Ministry Team

The Shared Ministry Team includes all clergy, lay worship leaders, and pastoral assistants. They concentrate on worship in the MA, both as it is now, and how it can best serve the needs of our communities.

Schools

The Schools group looks after any administration of church schools which is the MA’s responsibility, looks after delivering worship in all our schools, and encouraging schools and churches to connect with each other.

Vision Statement

This is our Vision: We, the Aled Mission Area, are a family of Churches, building up trust and mutual support. We are diverse in geography, culture, language, and worship. We are inspired and supported by prayer. We aim to: be woven and united in the love and life of Christ;proclaim the Gospel in Word and deed in our communities and in the world;grow and nurture followers of Jesus

Who is our Mission Area?
